As the release of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 is drawing near, more rumors regarding the first handset to launch with it inside keep surfacing as well. While it wouldn't have been surprising to see Vivo becoming once again the brand that spearheads a new technology/hardware part with the NEX 2022, it seems that the honor of releasing the first Snapdragon 898-powered smartphone might go to Motorola this time.
Chen Jin, Motorola's general manager, has recently posted on Chinese social networking website Weibo that an "infinitely powerful" device known as the Moto Edge X is coming. While this label is quite general, it perfectly fits a device that would use the latest high-end processor available on the market. Since the Snapdragon 898 is expected to be unveiled next month, we just need to wait a few weeks until the truth surfaces.
Based on similar releases of new, powerful devices with barely unveiled hardware (for example the Xiaomi Mi 11), the Moto Edge X will probably see a limited launch in China before the end of the year, with global availability following in early 2022.
In the end, it looks like most users want improved battery life from the next-gen high-end mobile processors, at least based on a poll by Android Authority that received almost 200 votes so far.
