Shenzhen Xunlong Software has released a portable monitor under its Orange Pi brand. Arriving alongside the release of Orange Pi OS, the portable monitor appears to serve as a new accessory for the company's various Orange Pi single-board computers (SBCs) and the Orange Pi 800. Accordingly, the Orange Pi Portable Monitor has the following ports for connecting external devices:
- 1x 3.5 mm audio jack
- 1x HDMI
- 1x USB Type-A
- 2x USB Type-C (Audio, power and video transmission)
Orange Pi has also included a removable stand, as well as a pair of speakers that can be adjusted with a simple volume toggle. At the heart of the Orange Pi Portable Monitor is a 14-inch IPS panel with LED backlighting, a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate. According to Orange Pi, the panel provides a 700:1 contrast ratio too, along with 220 nits of peak brightness and a disappointing 45% NTSC colour space coverage. As Tom's Hardware notes, Orange Pi's choice of a 262,000-colour panel may lack vibrancy when displaying movies or games.
For reference, the monitor measures 325 x 205 x 15 mm and weighs 550 g. Currently, the Orange Pi Portable Monitor is orderable on Amazon for US$65.99. Alternatively, Shenzhen Xunlong Software offers the same monitor for US$59 on AliExpress before applying any coupons.
