Deal | 49-inch Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor gets a significant price cut on Amazon
The Samsung Odyssey G9 bedazzled fans and enthusiasts alike back when it was launched in June 2020. While it has had some issues with light leaking out of the panel, they seem to have been sorted out. Units manufactured after 2020 are mostly defect-free. One can now buy it for US$1,045 on Amazon, 25% lower than its asking price of US$1,400.
While that might seem like an exorbitant price to pay for a monitor, you get an unparalleled gaming experience with its 1000R QLED panel. The Samsung Odyssey G9 has a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels, which is the equivalent of stacking two 27-inch monitors side by side. Other specs include a refresh rate of 240 Hz, Nvidia G-Sync/AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support and customizable RGB lighting at the back. This, combined with frequently discounted last-gen graphics cards, should make for an excellent gaming setup.
A cursory glance at the Samsung Odyssey G9's price history (via CamelCamelCamel) reveals it changes often. However, the current price will likely stay in place for a few more days until Black Friday. Those with some extra cash can get its newer version, the 4K Odyssey Neo G9, although it seems to be out of stock at the moment on Amazon and Samsung's official website.
