Whether through unfortunate timing or poor judgement, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro is an underwhelming proposition. The main issue is its massively hiked asking price compared to its immediate predecessor, the Oppo Reno 13 Pro, but that wouldn’t necessarily be such an issue if the accompanying upgrades had managed to keep pace. Oppo’s decision to offer a split battery offering continues to irritate, meaning that customers in the UK and Europe are getting a second-tier experience.

To be completely honest, I didn't have especially high hopes for the Reno 16 Pro. I knew it would be decent enough, but Oppo's mid-range cameras haven't wowed me too much in the past, and I wasn't expecting anything different here, but I was mistaken. Plus, there's a plethora of fun filters and effects to make your photos stand out, and the collage mode is so good that it's a little bit addictive. Elsewhere, the phone is solid on all fronts.

The Oppo Reno 16 Pro is a mid-range phone with a beautiful 6.3-inch screen and some genuinely fun camera features. It's not a top-tier flagship phone, but given the upcoming phone price spike, perhaps a polished mid-ranger is the phone average consumer could afford.

We’re yet to learn about the Reno 16’s specifications, but leaks suggest a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide sensor. Up front, too, the smartphone is tipped to house a 50MP selfie camera.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
ARM Mali-G720 MP8: High-end graphics chip for smartphones with 8 of the 16 possible cores. Based on the new "5th Gen" architecture (successor to Valhall) including Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and Ray Racing. Compared to the G715, 15% higher performance should be possible at the same clock rates.
Qualcomm Adreno 722: A relatively high-performance iGPU for Android tablets, phones and handhelds that debuted alongside the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC and features an unknown, as of August 2025, number of unified shaders.
