Reviews for the Oppo Reno12 FS

The Oppo Reno 12 FS shows just how good a budget phone can be. With its premium design, vibrant display, reliable performance, and thoughtful features such as expandable storage and the Cosmos Ring, it offers incredible bang for your buck. While it’s not without compromises, such as average secondary cameras and the lack of wireless charging, these shortcomings are forgivable given the price. If you’re seeking an affordable yet capable smartphone, the Reno 12 FS is a solid choice. However, with the newer Reno 13 FS already available, it’s harder to justify this older model unless you find it significantly discounted.

The Oppo Reno12 FS 5G is a very cheap phone that does everything you need a typical smartphone to do. Rather than aiming to be consistently average, it splits its focus by chasing high performance. The display, value, and especially the battery are all well beyond expectation, whereas the performance, durability, and camera all have plenty of room to improve. Oppo has been keen to market the Reno 12 FS as a do-it-all AI cameraphone, but in reality the specifics of how you plan to use it will determine whether this one makes sense.

With a vibrant OLED display, solid build quality, and a battery that might just see you through two days, the Oppo Reno 12 FS 5G ticks a lot of boxes for its £300 asking price. Its performance isn’t particularly impressive, however, and its camera is barely adequate, with a truly awful Night mode. While it doesn’t suffer too badly in any one department (Night shooting aside), nor does the Oppo Reno 12 FS 5G stand out in any particular way. There are several other phones costing about the same money with similar attributes, and many of them offer at least one eye-catching element. Indeed, this might be an issue with this particular sub-£300 category as much as the phone itself. Spending just a fraction more money brings in phones like the Moto Edge 50 Fusion, which offers much more to get excited about.

6.67":
It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.71.8%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
