With features like fast charging, trendier punch-hole display, and a Full HD+ display, the A92 is what the A9 (2020) should have been when it launched late last year. Paired with stereo speakers, decent camera hardware and software, and decent RAM and storage combo, the A92 definitely lives up to its reputation as an all-around multimedia device.

Priced at PHP 15,990, the OPPO A92 sits in the mid-range category. As such, it’s not an easy phone to recommend considering its aging chipset and similar specs with the A9 2020. Additionally, there are other devices from competitors that can deliver better performance for the same price range.

The OPPO A92 is a solid mid-range phone that stands out on account of its stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint reader, large battery and otherwise decent overall performance that make it a very capable workhorse and a surprisingly good phone for enjoying media.

The Oppo A92 is the latest addition to Oppo’s A-series of mid-range phones that aims to deliver the best for its price. The A92 has been equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor and 8 GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 665 seems to lag just slightly behind the Mediatek Helio P70 in the A91, but in practical usage, the A92 seems to run quite smoothly in terms of its performance. Apart from that, there is also 128 GB of expandable storage for the user’s convenience. The volume rocker is situated on the left side of the device, while the slightly recessed power button that doubles as a fingerprint reader is placed on the right side of the phone. The side-mounted fingerprint reader makes it easier to access and unlock the phone compared to having to reposition the thumb or other digit onto the display to unlock the device.
As for the bottom of the phone, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack along with a USB Type-C port for data and charging duties. There is also a speaker grill. In terms of its overall design, the reflective finish definitely makes the phone more susceptible to fingerprint smudges. Another point to be noted is the rear camera array which seems to be protruding a bit, making it prone to scratches, especially when the phone is placed facing up on a surface or table. Extra care will be needed from the user’s side to preserve the exterior of the Oppo A92.
In terms of its display, this smartphone comes with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD FHD+ display with slim 1.73mm bezels all around. It has a dense 405PPI pixel density and a maximum brightness of 480 nits. In addition, it is worth noting that the display has been certified for its secondary Eye-Care mode capable of filtering out blue light from the visible spectrum to protect the users during extended use.
As for the camera, the Oppo A92 has been equipped with a rear quad-camera array that includes a primary 48-MP f/1.7 AI-enhanced camera, followed by a secondary 8-MP 119-degree ultra-wide-angle camera along with a 2-MP mono sensor and, finally, a 2-MP portrait sensor. While the primary and secondary camera are mainly used to capture photos, the third and fourth camera are primarily used to enhance details and capture depth data. In terms of its capabilities, the main camera captures pixel binned 12-MP shots and has an up to 5x digital zoom for cropping images from the main sensor. Apart from that, it can also capture 4K video. The A92 furthermore has a night mode setting, which uses longer exposure times to capture better night shots. In addition, there is a Pro mode with finer control over OIS, shutter speed, white balance and exposure on top of the usual slew of beautification modes. Overall, the Oppo A92 is definitely a great phone, albeit with its own ups and downs.

Qualcomm Adreno 610: Integrated (in the Snapdragon 665) graphics card based on the Adreno 600 architecture. The performance of the GPU is between the Adreno 510 and 512/612 and therefore in the lower mid range. Supports DirectX11_1, Vulkan 1.0, OpenCL 2.0, OpenGL ES 3.2.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

SD 665: Fast mid-range ARM SoC with 8 CPU Kryo 260 cores (four fast 2 GHz Cortex-A73 cores in a cluster and two power saving 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 cores) and a rather slow Adreno 610 GPU. Manufactured in a 11 nm LPP process.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
6.50":
It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
