Deal | "One of the best roguelites" (98% positive) returns to its lowest price on Steam

In Hades, players step into the role of Zagreus, the immortal son of Hades, the god of the dead. To escape the underworld, he must fight his way through countless monsters, guards and divine figures – and will occasionally die along the way.

At its core, Hades is a classic roguelite. Each run features new map layouts, different rewards and fresh combinations of upgrades, boons and weapons. Players can choose from a wide arsenal ranging from staples such as the sword and bow to the Twin Fists and the Adamant Rail. Failure is part of the formula: after every death, you return to the beginning, but resources and permanent progression remain.

Hades has been very well received by both players and critics. On Metacritic, the PC version holds a Metascore of 93 and a User Score of 8.6. The picture is even stronger on Steam, where the game currently has more than 301,000 user reviews, 98% of them positive.

The German gaming magazine GameStar was also impressed in its review and awarded Hades a strong 90 out of 100. Particular praise went to the polished combat system, the wide variety of builds and the exciting boss fights. The atmospheric world and well-crafted story were also highlighted as strengths. Criticism was limited to the occasionally static narrative style and a few slower-paced sections at the beginning of a run. TheSixthAxis even described Hades as “one of the best roguelites of all-time.”

75% discount on Steam

Hades was developed by US studio Supergiant Games and released on September 17, 2020. The roguelite normally costs $24.99 on Steam, but the current 75% discount brings the price down to $6.24 until April 28. According to SteamDB, the game has once again dropped back to its previous lowest price, last seen during the Spring Sale and previously reached in September 2025. Hades is also Steam Deck Verified and should therefore run without issues.
