Nvidia boss Jensen Huang has been breaking hearts at a Computex 2018 press conference. It’s safe to say there is considerable anticipation in regard to the next generation of Nvidia GeForce GTX GPUs, so naturally Huang was questioned about when they might start appearing. Unfortunately, Huang’s reply, as reported by PCWorld, will have gamers around the world kicking their gaming chairs in frustration. The somewhat non-committal “it’s a long time from now” response was offered, so no actual date or timeframe, but there was definitely no allusion to a June or July release, either.
There has been speculation that the Nvidia chief is simply being the crafty businessman; offering a firm release date in the near future for the GTX 11 series would likely impede further sales of the GTX 10 series. But for those who have been saving up to get their hands on the next-generation GPU, this will come as deflating news. Until the California-based company actually confirms a release date for the hardware, it would be wise to take further rumors with a pinch of salt.
For those who care to know, the GeForce 900 series was introduced with the GTX 970 and GTX 980 in September 2014, while the GeForce 10 series started with the release of the GTX 1080 in May 2016.
