Nubia's next flagship smartphone has turned up in two separate leaks. While the company only introduced the Z70S Ultra in late April, it already looks like it is about to move on to the Z80 Ultra. For context, Digital Chat Station revealed information about the same device earlier this month after initially outlining Nubia Z80 Ultra specifications in August.
On the one hand, a recent 3C certification indicates that the Nubia Z80 Ultra will sport significantly faster wired charging than its Z70 series predecessors. Specifically, the 3C suggests that the Z80 Ultra will join the recent RedMagic 10 Pro (curr. $749 on Amazon) in supporting 100 W wired charging, up from 80 W in the Z70 Ultra and Z70S Ultra.
On the other hand, a device with the same model number has surfaced on Geekbench across multiple listings. Embedded below, the listings confirm that Nubia has based the Z80 Ultra around Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and 16 GB of RAM. Running Android 16, the Nubia Z80 Ultra easily outperforms its predecessor in Geekbench's single and multi-core benchmarks with averages of 3,637 and 11,195, respectively.
According to our benchmarks, the Nubia Z80 Ultra achieves 21% higher multi-core performance than the median of Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered smartphones we have tested. Similarly, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 helps the Nubia Z80 Ultra outperform the wealth of Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered flagships by about 18%. Based on recent rumours, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will be joined by a circa 7,100 mAh silicon carbon battery, a 144 Hz OLED display and a 35 mm primary camera. Launch details remain unknown for now, though.
