The Nothing Phone (3) is set to officially launch on 1 July, alongside the Nothing Headphone (1). As the company’s first “true” flagship, the Phone (3) will reportedly feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, with prices starting at $799. Positioned as the higher-end sibling to the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro (approx. $540 on Amazon), the device was recently certified by US agency FCC, confirming the inclusion of a 5,150 mAh battery capable of 65-watt charging over USB-C.
The same certification further indicates that the phone will support Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, Bluetooth and NFC. Speaking with Design Milk, Adam Bates, design director at Nothing, shared early details about the new “Glyph Matrix” – a circular dot-matrix display on the back of the Phone (3), highly reminiscent of the “AniMe Vision” on the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro. This secondary display replaces the Glyph Interface, which used LED strips on previous Nothing models. The new programmable micro-LEDs are designed to feel more expressive, playful and personal, and can also deliver more information.
Bates hinted that the Glyph Matrix may be able to display symbols and animations paired with sound effects, though the designer didn’t go into the specifics of its functionality. Nevertheless, it's reasonable to expect this secondary display to perform tasks like alerting users to incoming calls and notifications, indicating battery level, and showing basic widgets, such as symbols for weather forecast. More details will be available when the Nothing Phone (3) debuts on 1 July.
