Nocturnal 2 release date, gameplay, and PC requirements drop

Swiss indie developer Sunnyside Games will launch Nocturnal 2 on PC via Steam on November 10, 2026. The sequel to the 2023 action-platformer swaps the compact, roughly three-hour island of the original for an interconnected Metroidvania city. Players again control Ardeshir, a master of the Enduring Flame, who this time explores the forgotten city of Ytash. According to the studio’s press release, the game costs $9.99 (€9.99 / £7.99), with a 10% launch discount.
How the Enduring Flame works
In Nocturnal 2, fire sits at the center of both combat and exploration. Striking a fire source sets Ardeshir’s sword ablaze, which pushes back the darkness and powers his abilities. Enemies can snuff the flame out, so players need to protect it to see incoming attacks more clearly. Sunnyside describes the combat as fast and juggle-based, with foes hurled into the air and burned to ashes. Fire Gems can be mixed and matched to unlock new spells, and the blade also rekindles ancient mechanisms and torches to awaken the city.
Exploring Ytash
Ytash is a hand-drawn, interconnected world inspired by Persian architecture, stretching from dark depths to towering heights. Hidden passages and new abilities open up routes, so players will return to earlier areas as they grow stronger. The Steam page promises secret endings, and players can also gather strange arcana and poems along the way. Sunnyside calls the result a minimalist experience shaped by atmosphere and a sense of discovery. A demo arrived on Steam on January 27.
PC system requirements
The minimum specs are modest. Sunnyside lists Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor, 8GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 560X graphics card. The game needs 4GB of storage and targets 1080p at 60 FPS. No recommended specs are listed yet, and the store page shows no Steam Deck compatibility rating, although the original Nocturnal is verified. Only the PC version is listed for launch, and Sunnyside has not given an official length for the sequel. The game is single-player, with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing, plus interface and subtitle support in ten languages.
