Whatever happened to that John Wick game

The untitled John Wick game was revealed on February 12, 2026, during Sony’s State of Play showcase. A Lionsgate and Saber Interactive press release describes a single-player, third-person action game for mature audiences in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Franchise director Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves are involved, and the story is original, set years before the Impossible Task. The release promises gun-fu combat, film-style camerawork, and driving sequences. It gave no title or John Wick game release date, and the PlayStation store page still lists the date as to be determined, with Saber as developer and publisher.

How the game came about

Lionsgate has talked about a game for years. In November 2022, CEO Jon Feltheimer told investors the company was discussing “a big AAA game” based on John Wick and had received proposals, according to Video Games Chronicle. In early January 2026, CGMagazine reported that Motion Picture Group chairman Adam Fogelson had described growing interest in AAA games based on John Wick and Saw.

What Saber has said since

Saber has said a little more since the reveal. In March, chief creative officer Tim Willits told IGN the game is set before the first film and stars a younger Wick, with fights meant to feel rougher and more instinctive than the films’ polished choreography. He compared the films to video games, with waves of enemies, tougher foes, and boss fights, and said playing it should feel like watching a movie. Game director Jesus Iglesias said in a PlayStation Blog post that Saber wants players to feel as if they are inside a John Wick film.

The only timing clue came in July, when Saber chief business officer Steve Allison replied to a fan that he was helping prepare Saber’s 2028 lineup, which includes a Space Marine sequel, Wick, “hopefully” the Knights of the Old Republic remake, and a few unannounced titles. Saber told IGN the comment was real but said Allison was speaking broadly rather than officially.

What we still don’t know

As of November 1, 2026, we found no new trailer, title, gameplay, or confirmed release date since the reveal. Until Saber or Lionsgate says otherwise, 2028 is an unconfirmed window.
