Tomb Raider's 30-year history gets a $55 hardcover companion

Lara Croft's adventures are getting the hardcover treatment with Chronicles of the Tomb Raider, a new book from Dark Horse Books and Crystal Dynamics, scheduled for release on October 27, 2026. The publication arrives just days after the franchise celebrated 30 years since the original Tomb Raider debuted in 1996.
Written by Alex Forbes-Calvin, the 184-page, full-color hardcover takes readers through Lara's adventures in chronological order, revisiting the mysterious artifacts, dangerous locations, and memorable characters that have shaped the series.
According to the official publisher's description, the book also explores the history of Lara Croft herself, alongside the friends, rivals, and occasional questionable acquaintances she has encountered over the years. After three decades of collapsing temples and ancient curses, there's certainly no shortage of material.
Interestingly, Dark Horse also promises a glimpse into the franchise's future. However, the publisher hasn't specified what that entails, so fans hoping for major revelations about upcoming games should probably keep their expectations in check.
The hardcover measures approximately 9 × 12 inches (22.9 × 30.5 cm) and carries a suggested US price of $54.99. A digital edition is also listed for $31.99.
According to Penguin Random House, the official publication date is October 27th, although Dark Horse Direct currently estimates November shipping for its orders.
For longtime fans, it's another opportunity to revisit Lara's remarkable career, this time without having to dodge boulders or solve ancient puzzles.
