The ever-popular Nintendo Switch now has a Super Mario-themed edition. It is essentially the same as a normal SKU of this device, although it has a new red-and-blue colorway and is bundled with an appropriately-themed new carrying case, as well as JoyCon grips and straps in matching colors. It starts at US$299 on Best Buy.

Super Mario does seem like the most immediately intuitive Special Edition version in which Nintendo could release its persistently hot-ticket Switch. However, the company has only just gotten around to preparing this new edition of the console for sale now.

This new Nintendo Switch - known as the Super Mario Red & Blue Edition in its new market - should come with a carrying case bearing a pattern of classic icons based on the game. Otherwise, it is just like a regular Switch - except of course that both of its matching JoyCons are red, with a blue grip and straps.

The Super Mario Edition's body is also finished in red, as is its dock. Its units also now on sale in the Chinese market look like this as well. It is distributed by Tencent in this country (as are all Nintendo Switches), and is available with the major online retailers there such as Tmall and JD

It starts at 2099 yuan (~US$325), whereas Best Buy stocks it for US$299 at present. Amazon, on the other hand, hikes its price to as much as $469 for some reason. This might be a sign an interested punter should jump on one elsewhere now.
