The One-Netbook OneGx 2 has just been teased as a new mini laptop and gaming handheld hybrid. While the company has showcased the design and its removable keyboard, it didn't reveal any specs. @RealVictor_M on X, a known tipster, now shares that the device will be powered by a top-end AMD APU.
More specifically, the tipster claims that the OneGx 2 will pack the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. It's the same APU that the GPD Pocket 4 features, but GPD's offering isn't primarily geared towards gamers. Instead, GPD is targeting more on those who want to stay productive on the go but still want the perks of a portable gaming device (Legion Go curr. $472.97 on Amazon).
Nonetheless, if One-Netbook indeed packs the OneGx 2 with the top-end AMD Strix Point APU, it would be a major upgrade from the predecessor. Looking back, the first-gen device launched with the Intel Core i5 10210Y, an Amber Lake-Y with a low-end UHD Graphics 615 iGPU.
From our synthetic benchmarks, this iGPU got a performance rating between the AMD Radeon HD 8550G and the Nvidia GeForce GT 720M. Given that, it goes without saying that the OneGx 1 can't really play any modern games. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, on the other hand, comes with the Radeon 890M iGPU.
It's a modern RDNA 3.5 iGPU, and from our synthetic benchmarks, it sits between the Nvidia GTX 1650 Mobile and the GTX 980M. As our gaming benchmarks show, this iGPU can also smoothly handle most of the modern AAA games at 1080p on Medium preset.
That said, as the first-gen device was powered by an Intel processor, it's still possible that One-Netbook may equip the OneGx 2 with a Lunar Lake chip. Regardless of what powers the upcoming gaming handheld hybrid, with its unique design and small form factor, it will be going against the next GPD Win Mini, which is expected to be powered by an AMD Strix Point APU.
