New Huawei tablet launches with OLED display and slimmer profile than iPad Pro

Huawei has held a relatively big launch event in Bangkok, Thailand, and at this event, the company has introduced a few new products, including the MatePad Pro Max. The company is positioning it as a thin and light variant of the 13.2-inch non-Max tablet, and it's thinner than the 13-inch Apple iPad Pro.
Specifically, the thinnest iPad Pro from Apple, which is the 13-inch model, measures as thin as 5.1mm (256GB WiFi curr. $1,182.81 on Amazon). The Huawei MatePad Pro Max, on the other hand, measures 4.7mm at its thinnest, making it thinner than the 13.2-inch non-Max version, which measures 5.5mm.
Of course, compared to the smaller non-Max model, there's an obvious downgrade in terms of the display. The MatePad Pro Max comes with a 13.2-inch OLED PaperMatte display, and in comparison, the 12.2-inch MatePad Pro, which we reviewed in July 2025, comes with a tandem OLED screen.
But then again, it's the company's best offering for those who prefer to have a large tablet that's both thin and light. Speaking of the OLED panel, the display of the MatePad Pro Max has a 144Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness rating of 1,600 nits, and 3.55mm thin bezels.
There are comfort-focused features for an enhanced and comfortable viewing experience. Huawei also adds that this large display allows three windows to be opened at the same time, which, paired with PC-level productivity apps, can help users stay productive while being on the go. It also has support for the Glide folio keyboard and M-Pencil Pro.
The company further highlights the large 10,400mAh battery of the tablet, which users can take full advantage of with the 40W reverse charging support. With a 6-speaker setup, the MatePad Pro Max also promises to deliver an immersive listening experience, and the 50MP rear camera is said to capture detail-rich photos.
This new iPad Pro rival from Huawei is available in Blue and Space Gray, with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The starting launch price is reported to be £999.99, around $1,362, and the company is expected to fully disclose pricing and availability details soon.
