Casio’s MTP-E510D is a new budget-friendly chronograph series with 50m water resistance, 1/10 second stopwatch, and three bold color options. The watches will reportedly be priced under $80 at launch.

Casio is extending its budget chronograph line this October with new color variants in the MTP-E510D series, with options in green, blue, and brown. The new releases seem to be all about accessible pricing, no-nonsense specs, and a metal build that straddles the line between classic Casio Standard and the look of the pricier Edifice range. These don't look like standard small-dial watches typically found in the MTP series.

The first real surprise is the screw-down caseback - a detail that’s more common in dive watches, but one that definitely bumps up the overall water resistance, which sits at 50 meters (5 bar). However, these aren’t dive tools, but it’s a sign Casio is sticking to proven recipes for making their watches last in real-world use.

Beyond basic timekeeping, you get a precise chronograph with 1/10 second accuracy. Subdials display minutes at 9 o'clock, seconds at 6 o'clock, and tenths of a second at 12 o'clock. Again, this is rare for Casio’s Standard series, which helps the MTP-E510D have its own separate design language from entry-level quartz watches. However, it’s worth stressing these are not premium pieces. The stainless steel case and bracelet (with non-solid links) keep costs low without sacrificing the appearance of sturdiness. Dimensions are a middle ground at 47.5 × 42 × 10.5 mm - meaning these watches should fit most wrists without looking oversized.

Feature-wise, you will get only the basics: time, a seconds hand, chronograph, and a date window. That’s where the list ends - there's no sapphire glass or any advanced protection. Mineral glass covers the dial, and the battery is rated for three years (on the SR920SW cell). At $70-80, that’s as much utility as one could realistically expect from such a timepiece. Alternatively, you can also check out the Casio MTP-1302D-1A1 on Amazon for $68.99.
