Casio just released a limited edition G-Shock in collaboration with Google Play, as part of a Google Play Points campaign. This model is based on the established DW-5600UE series, with case dimensions measuring 48.9 × 42.8 × 13.4 mm and a weight of 52 grams. It uses a CR2016 battery with an estimated lifespan of five years and has standard G-Shock functionality - multiple alarms, stopwatch, 24-hour countdown timer, and a full auto-calendar.
The watch has a translucent resin case and strap, unlike standard solid-color DW-5600 models. The clear design exposes the structure and fasteners, and the overall construction matches other G-Shock units in terms of water resistance (200 meters) and shock-resistant features.
The dial features "Google Play" branding on the upper bezel and the signature Google Play color bar (blue, red, yellow, green) on the lower dial. "Casio" branding is placed beneath the display. When illuminated, the backlight displays a large red Google Play triangle icon.
Packaging includes a round matte silver canister with "Google Play | BEAMS" printed. Approximately 500 units were released globally. The standard DW-5600UE retails at about $100, but the collaboration model is already listed on secondary markets (like eBay) for $425 and above.
No additional smart features were added; the unit has the original digital functions and build specs. This, plus the fact that the release was strictly limited and distributed through a rewards campaign, implies that the launch is mainly for collectors and tech aficionados.
