We already know that Casio is preparing to expand its Origin series this fall with the launch of the new GW-BX5600, which is now reportedly arriving in two color variants. The models, which are listed under references GW-BX5600-1JF and GW-BX5600-1A1JF, will follow the familiar square design of the 5600 line with some key differences in display style (new MIP LCDs).
The new lineup will include both standard liquid crystal displays and reverse liquid crystal displays. Standard LCDs, which are commonly seen across digital watches, feature dark digits on a light background. Reverse LCDs, meanwhile, invert the scheme with light digits on a dark background. While the latter often has a sleeker look, they can be slightly harder to read in dim lighting, though G-Shock’s backlight support should mitigate this.
From the first images, the GW-BX5600-1JF will seemingly have the standard display, while the GW-BX5600-1A1JF will be the reverse variant with a blacked-out finish. Both will feature a standard rugged resin case and band design, alongside the metal accents around the display window.
Earlier leaks had already hinted at the BX5600’s development, pointing towards a fall 2025 release window. The latest update also reiterates those details - and it also clarifies that Casio will position this model as a fresh launch within the Origin range rather than a limited collab or special edition. The Origin series itself traces back to the very first DW-5000C from 1983, making it the foundation of the entire G-Shock lineup.
Casio has not yet announced exact pricing, but the models are expected to sit in line with other Origin releases. An official reveal should be just around the corner.
