NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080-powered Alienware m15 coming soon, confirms Frank Azor (and Dell)
November 1 update: Dell has confirmed with us that the Tweet was referring to the GTX 1080 and not the GTX 2080 as previously presumed.
Currently starting at US$1,353.99 (down from a regular price of US$1,459.98), the Alienware m15 is a very light solution for gamers on the go, weighing 4.7 pounds (and up, depending on the configuration). For now, this machine only comes with an Intel Core i7-8750H processor inside and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 and GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q graphics options, but those who need something more powerful will soon be able to go for a more potent video card.
Although some might think that Frank Azor is talking about an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card, we believe that Alienware will go with the upcoming GeForce GTX 2080 Max-Q instead. After all, Alienware's co-founder said: "Ok if you want an 80 config it's coming just hang tight" and we should take into account the fact that those looking for a Dell-made laptop with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics can pick the Alienware 15 already, so the GTX 2080 seems the natural choice for a new Alienware m15 hardware option.
Right now, the Alienware 15 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics and the top-of-the-line Intel Core i9-8950HK processor is down to US$2,841.99 from a regular price of US$3,368.99. On the other hand, the top configuration available for the Alienware m15 comes for US$2,304.59 (US$2,429.98 regular price). Would you wait for a GTX 2080 Max-Q Alienware m15, risking to see it receive a GTX 1080 instead, or would you grab the Alienware 15 for the good price currently available on Dell.com? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
