Rumor | Motorola will launch new phones including the Moto G60S and Edge 20 Lite soon
Motorola has already released a number of new phones, including the Moto G20, G60 and G100/Edge S. The prolific leaker Evan Blass has just asserted that more are on the way in 2021, and that each one, like their contemporaries, comes with its own city-themed code-names.
These mystery phones are the Motorola "Saipan", "Lisbon" and "Kyoto", now rumored to be called the Moto G50 5G, Moto G60S and Edge 20 Lite respectively on their launch. This new claim does line up with earlier tips pointing to the release of the latter, potentially accompanied by others currently known only as "Berlin" and "Sierra" later this year.
Of these new alleged Edge variants, the "Kyoto" is, despite its alleged new Lite moniker, projected to launch with a powerful 108MP main rear camera, possibly joined by an 8MP ultrawide-angle lens and a 2MP depth-sensor. Then again, not much is known about the rest of its specs, never mind those of the "Moto G Saipan" or "Lisbon".
On the other hand, based on their claimed new product names, we might be justified in expecting cut-down or modified versions of their pre-existing 6.5-inch HD+ and 6.8-inch FHD+ Android 11-powered counterparts.
On that note, Blass' latest claims (should they prove accurate) imply a puzzling redundancy in the "Moto G50 5G": its apparent immediate predecessor has a Snapdragon 480 SoC, and, thus, already covers the "new" phone's USP; it is even called the G50 5G on platforms such as Amazon. Motorola may not have long to clear this apparent discrepancy up during the rest of its 2021 release cycle.
