Motorola has been making smartphones with an integrated stylus for years. However a few years ago, it released the Motorola Edge+ (2022) which had a smart stylus that had to be purchased separately. Now, it is repeating that same playbook as it has announced a new smart stylus that will be a companion accessory for the new Motorola Signature and Razr Fold.
The new stylus will be sold as the Moto Pen Ultra, and Motorola describes it as “an extension of the hand” and an accessory that transforms the Motorola Signature and Razr Fold into a canvas and workstation. The stylus comes in black and has a matching charging case.
The Moto Pen Ultra has an ultra-fine tip, support for palm rejection, and support for tilt detection, allowing artists and designers to add shading and textures to their drawings with a slight tilt. Motorola has also added some software features such as Quick Clip, which lets users easily annotate content and add it to a new or existing note without breaking their workflow.
Speed Share intelligently suggests contacts a user will most likely share notes and annotations with, while Sketch-to-Image lets users transform rough sketches into stunning images. The stylus also has support for Google's Circle-to-Search feature, which makes it easy to search for anything by drawing a circle around it, highlighting it, or tapping on it.
There's no info on the Moto Pen Ultra's battery life, but Motorola says that it should last all day with the included carrying case, which stores a full battery reserve. Motorola is also yet to reveal how much the Moto Pen Ultra will cost and when it will be available.
