More Huawei P30 details surface: Headphone jack, OLED display, new 38 MP Sony sensor
Huawei’s P20 phones—the P20 Pro, in particular—received critical acclaim for their cameras. However, the P20 almost felt like an afterthought, as it lacked a number of flagship features that were on the Pro model. The Chinese company is set to remedy that with the next set of phones in the series, though.
According to reports, the P30 will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with a teardrop notch. Huawei has reserved OLED panels for its flagships so far—the Mate 20 Pro sports an OLED display while the regular Mate 20 makes do with an LCD, ditto with the P20 duo. The P30 will be a change in form, however. OLED display also means it’s very likely that the P30 will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The P30 will also sport a triple rear camera setup. The P20 made do with a dual setup, while the P20 Pro received all the glory for its triple-cam lineup. Both devices will take things up a notch this year, however, with the P30 to opt for three rear cameras, while the P30 Pro makes the move up to a whopping four rear cameras. One of the rear sensors on the P30 is expected to be Sony’s new 38MP IMX607.
Lastly, the P30 could have an 8 GB model. There will also be a headphone jack, a feature that was missing on the P20 for no reason.
