The Miyoo Flip is finally here. Arriving globally for $89.99, the Miyoo Flip is the long-awaited rival to the Anbernic RG35XX SP, albeit with a smaller form factor and a pair of joysticks thrown in for good measure. Update: Miyoo has since started selling the Flip directly on its official AliExpress store.

December 31, 13:06 GMT update:

Miyoo has now started selling the Flip through its official AliExpress store. While the device is sold out in all four colours at the time of writing, this only applies to the 'first batch' of sales. Reportedly, Miyoo will be re-stocking the Flip soon. However, it has not confirmed when yet.

Original article continues as follows:

The Miyoo Flip has been a long time coming. Known as the Mini Flip and Flip at various points throughout its long gestation, the device principally serves as a foil to Anbernic's popular RG35XX SP.

Ultimately, the Miyoo Flip adopts more or less the same feature set as the RG35XX SP. With that being said, it does so with a smaller form factor. Specifically, the Miyoo Flip measures 154 x 81 x 15 mm or 83 x 81 x 25 mm when closed.

Nonetheless, Miyoo has included a 3.5-inch IPS display, as well as a 3,000 mAh battery. For reference, the former outputs at 640 x 480 pixels in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Additionally, Miyoo describes the Flip as containing an ARM Cortex-A55 based CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz. Although Miyoo does not admit as much, it seems that this CPU sits within the Rockchip RK3566, which somehow remains a popular chipset among budget gaming handhelds.

Similarly, the Flip finds itself with 1 GB of RAM. In short, performance should be about on par with what the RG35XX SP offers. However, the Flip contains a pair of joysticks, which the RG35XX SP lacks. As such, the Flip could be more suitable for emulating later PlayStation 1 (PS1) games than the RG35XX SP. Ergonomics remains unknown at this stage, though. Currently, the Flip can be picked up in black, grey, white and yellow colour options for $89.99 with deliveries set for January 5, 2025.
