The next instalment in the Surface Pro series is due within the next few months, with Microsoft tipped to launch the Surface Laptop 4 simultaneously. Leaked US pricing suggests that the Surface Pro 8 will be another expensive entry in the popular 2-in-1 series, though. According to Roland Quandt, the Surface Pro 8 will start at US$899.99 before any discounts. The entry-level SKU will feature a Core i3 processor, along with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
Previous leaks have suggested that Microsoft plans to re-use the chassis from the Surface Pro 7 on the eighth-generation model, so we doubt that the storage will be upgradable as it currently is on the Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro X.
Additionally, LTE SKUs will start at US$1,149.99, while it will cost at least US$1,299.99 for 256 GB of storage. Moreover, Microsoft will charge US$1,499.99 for 16 GB of RAM and US$1,999.99 for a 512 GB SSD. Prices balloon to US$2,399.99 for the Core i7 model with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD, with Microsoft set to charge a further US$400 for the pleasure of 32 GB of RAM.
It seems that all Surface Pro 8 SKUs will come with Intel Tiger Lake-U series processors. An engineering sample that sold on eBay suggests that the Core i7 chipset will be the Core i7-1165G7, which Microsoft will probably complement with the Core i5-1135G7 and Core i3-1115G4. Microsoft is not expected to release an AMD version of the Surface Pro 8, though. Quandt claims that Microsoft will price the Surface Pro 8 as follows in the US:
