MeLE has introduced a brand-new mini PC with a rather old Intel N150 CPU and up to 16 GB of RAM. The fanless, dust-resistant mini PC is just 600 cc in volume, and is aimed at industrial usage.

MeLE has introduced a brand-new entrant to its Quieter lineup of mini PCs. Dubbed the Quieter HD, the aptly named fanless mini PC sports a moderately capable Intel N150 chip with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of solid-state storage.

Low-power CPU allows for fanless operation without much hassle

The 4-core, 4-thread, 6-watt Intel N150 CPU features a boost clock of 3.6 GHz, and 6 MB of L3 cache. In raw performance, the 1.5-year old chip trades blows with a nearly decade-old Core i5-8250U. In simpler terms, the N150 should be good enough for only the lightest of workloads, such as basic web browsing, emails, and file management.

That said, the lackluster performance should be acceptable, considering that MeLE advertises the system as an appropriate choice for industrial use cases, such as digital signage and automation, flaunting its 24x7 operation capability and dust-resistant design.

Despite being tiny, the MeLE Quieter HD mini PC has room for a 2.5-inch SATA drive.

As mentioned earlier, MeLE ships the Quieter HD with up to 16 GB of RAM, which is housed inside a single DDR4 slot and can be swapped down the road. The same applies to its SSD, which can be replaced with larger and faster M.2 2280 NVMe drives (up to 4 TB). Room for 2.5-inch SATA drives (up to 4 TB) is also present for storage-hungry applications.

The I/O on offer has been detailed below:

  • Triple USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, dual USB 2.0 Type-A
  • Micro SD card slot
  • Dual HDMI 2.1, single DisplayPort 1.4
  • Dual 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • Gigabit LAN

The MeLE Quieter HD mini PC is just 0.6L in volume, and measures in at 150 x 105.4 x 39.6 mm or 5.9 x 4.15 x 1.56 inches. Wireless networking capabilities are present, handled by Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 802.11ac.

The MeLE Quieter HD fanless mini PC is far from cheap

Pricing is quite steep, with the base variant (8 GB/ 128 GB) costing $472.49. The highest-end variant with twice the RAM and 512 GB storage costs a whopping $682.49. Additional shipping fees and taxes are applicable.

Typical folks who do not care much about having a fanless and dust-resistant system, will likely be better served by something more traditional, such as the Geekom M6 Ultra powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS and 16 GB RAM (currently available for $459.99 on Amazon).

MeLE Quite HD sports a healthy array of ports.
