The Asus ROG NUC 16 now comes with RTX 5070 Ti and 32GB RAM, but it costs over $3,100

Asus has released what appears to be the final configuration of its ROG NUC 16 gaming mini PC. To recap, the company initially launched the compact 3-liter desktop with an RTX 5080 Laptop GPU and Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus (curr. $3,799 on Amazon). It later added a "cheaper" RTX 5060 configuration with the less powerful Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus (curr. $2,499 on Amazon).
Now, Asus has started selling the remaining RTX 5070 Ti variant (RNUC16JNK9X389AU). It is available for $3,116.60 on Amazon and $3,199 through the Asus online store. The new configuration pairs the mobile GPU with the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. Interestingly, the Amazon model costs slightly less while offering twice the RAM of the 16GB configuration sold directly by Asus. The same is true of the other ROG NUC 16 variants.
The Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus features 24 cores and 24 threads, including eight performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. It boosts up to 5.5GHz and has 36MB of L3 cache. According to our benchmarks, the processor should deliver around 8% better single-core performance and a much larger 33% improvement in multi-core workloads over the Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus in the base model. Meanwhile, the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU offers around 35% better gaming performance than the RTX 5060 Laptop GPU on average.
As previously covered, the ROG NUC 16 comes in a compact 3-liter chassis. Users can upgrade the memory to 64GB through two SO-DIMM slots, while storage can be expanded to 8TB (4TB + 4TB) using the PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot and an additional PCIe 5.0 slot. Both are accessible without tools. The PC can sit horizontally or vertically, with a built-in sensor automatically adjusting the cooling settings to match its orientation.
As for connectivity, the ROG NUC 16 includes Thunderbolt 4, DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), HDMI 2.1, a 20Gbps USB-C port, 2.5G Ethernet, and six USB-A ports, alongside Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Please check our original launch coverage for more information.
