Marathon adds Duo trial and tech fixes as Ranked Mode nears

Bungie has officially opened Cryo Archive, Marathon’s first endgame zone, and says the new activity goes live on Friday, March 20, as a weekend-only PvPvE challenge aboard the derelict UESC Marathon ship.
In its official Cryo Archive overview, Bungie describes the zone as a high-intensity, raid-style activity built around Security Clearance progression, locked systems, contested exfils, and seven Vaults containing some of the most valuable loot in the game. The studio says Cryo Archive spans six interconnected wings linked by a central hub and is designed as a pinnacle challenge that will take multiple runs to learn and master.
How to access Cryo Archive
According to Bungie, players need Runner Level 25, all six factions unlocked through liaison contracts, and a minimum loadout value of 5,000 credits to queue for Cryo Archive. Bungie also says eligible players will receive a one-time Sponsored Kit tuned for early attempts in the zone.
The studio says Cryo Archive is built for three-player crews. Players can enter with friends, use solo queue with fill, or find teammates through Bungie’s Marathon community channels.
Vaults, contracts, and weekly progression
Bungie says Cryo Archive uses a Security Clearance system that controls access to doors, supply rooms, and exfils during a run. The zone also includes seven Vaults, each with its own access requirements and Vault Key. Bungie says players can find Vault Keys in planet-side zones, from higher-risk activities, or by defeating enemy crews.
The official post also says Cryo Archive has a pool of seven unique contracts that appear in CyberAcme while the mode is active. Completing them can award high-rarity items, while Codex progression tied to Cryo Archive carries over week to week.
Other Marathon changes around the Cryo rollout
Our screenshots also show Bungie testing an Experimental Duo Queue in Perimeter for two weeks from March 18, alongside a server-side fix for an equipment stack-limit issue that Bungie says should also reduce anteater errors during runs. Another in-game notice says Ranked Mode and additional Cryo Archive activities are also on the way.
Bungie has really stepped up, which shows that player feedback has been evolving Marathon.
