Just over a week has passed since Mangmi lifted the lid on its first gaming handheld. While the company has not shared a release date yet, it has indicated how much the Air X will cost when it eventually arrives in China.
To recap, the Mangmi Air X utilises a 5.5-inch IPS display with a native 1080p output, a 60 Hz refresh rate and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Supposedly, the panel offers 450 nits peak brightness, which should be brighter than many other budget gaming handhelds and even some more expensive options like the Anbernic RG557.
Moreover, the Mangmi Air X integrates Hall effect joysticks and triggers plus a 6-axis gyroscope. While these can be found on more expensive gaming handhelds, Mangmi has only included 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset powered by a 5,000 mAh battery to keep costs down. To that end, the company has now confirmed that the Air X will start at CNY 499 in China, which currently converts to approximately $70.
Mangmi runs through the setup process with the Air X in a recent Bilibili video, too. From this, we can see that the Air X is slightly wider than the TrimUI Smart Pro (curr. $86.99 on Amazon), despite having significantly more power at its disposal. There is still no word on international availability yet, though.
