1.6 ounces, 42,000 DPI and 8,000Hz polling: The Lofree Hypace gaming mouse tries to combine top-notch features with an ultra-light magnesium body. It is now being offered at a relatively low price as part of an ongoing crowdfunding campaign.

Lofree is jumping on the ultralight gaming mouse bandwagon with a new model called Hype, which aims to undercut the competition in terms of weight. For instance, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 weighs around 2.1 ounces, while the Lofree Hypace tips the scales at just 1.66 ounces.

In order to achieve this incredibly low weight, Lofree utilizes a slim frame made from a magnesium alloy with plastic mouse buttons and covers. This design is intended to be both sturdy and breathable, reducing hand sweat. The construction also stands out from the crowd of plastic mice. Its PixArt PAW3950 sensor with 42,000 DPI can manage 50G acceleration and tracks at 750 IPS, which means that the wireless mouse competes with other flagship pointing devices that are made for gaming.

With an 8,000Hz polling rate, the latency is decreased to just 0.125 milliseconds. Lofree’s new mouse further uses a 2.4GHz wireless receiver, which should be placed on top of a desk for optimal performance. Alternatively, the gaming mouse supports Bluetooth or a wired USB connection. Last but not least, Lofree claims that a full battery charge can last 17 hours at 8,000Hz polling, or over 100 hours at 1,000Hz.

Pricing and availability

The Lofree Hypace is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. To promote the campaign, the mouse is being offered for $109, but the eventual retail price is expected to increase to $199. Deliveries are scheduled to start in May, but the aforementioned prices do not include shipping or import taxes and/or other fees for international buyers.
