Lofree Block 98 launches as a retro mechanical keyboard with a wireless twist

A new modern wireless mechanical keyboard disguised as a much more legacy accessory might prove a nice gift idea (for yourself, even) now this holiday season is underway. In that case, Lofree might have you covered with its latest release.

The Block is a new full-sized keyboard with self-lubricated "Full POM by TTC" switches for "a remarkably quiet typing experience" on keycaps touted to deliver a succinctly "timeless" esthetic impact. 2 round "retro radio" knobs provide a contrast to them with a "Hermès orange" finish.

One of them switches the Block between its Bluetooth and USB type-C connectivity. The keyboard also still packs a status display, albeit one designed to be minimal enough to maintain the retro look. Then again, there is still white LED backlighting, which can cut its battery life from an estimated ~80 hours to about 10.

The Block is rated to work with either Windows, Android, macOS or iOS devices, and has been released at an RRP of US$169, or US$228 when bundled with a new PBT Mouse. However, timely special offers bring those prices down to US$143.65 or US$182.40 respectively until November 30, 2023.  

The Lofree Block has yet to appear via third-party retail, although the "extremely" low-profie Free has a US$10 coupon on Amazon today (November 8, 2023).
