Listing for new DualSense controller with doubled battery life leaked online
A listing released on Best Buy's Canadian website suggests that a new, improved version of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller is coming soon.
The listing, which was promptly removed, showed a controller that looks similar to the current DualSense controller. Other specifications remain the same as the current model, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a built-in microphone and headset jack. The dimensions are also static across versions. The listing denoted a price of C$89.99, but a charging stand was included.
However, the listing advertised the new DualSense controller at a lighter weight (280g versus 360g) and, most eye-catching, improved battery life.
A common complaint about the current DualSense controller is that real-world battery runtimes are fairly short, averaging between 4-6 hours before requiring a recharge. The new DualSense controller promises 12 hours of gameplay.
Keep in mind that the listing merely advertised the new DualSense controller as having a 12-hour battery life, so take this news with a big grain of salt. Additionally, this listing was first mentioned by an individual user on the ResetEra forums, so season this rumor well.
If Sony is indeed releasing an updated DualSense controller, improving the battery life would address one of the most common complaints from Sony gamers. Unfortunately, that dream is not yet a reality, so PS5 gamers will have to wait and see if Sony answers their requests.
In the meantime, you can always snag the standard PS5 DualSense wireless controller on Amazon. If charging your controller is a concern, you could pick up an extra-long 16.4-foot charging cable or a wired HORI Fighting Commander controller.
