Powerful sound booms from the 9-speaker sound system, which supports Dolby Atmos and has been optimized by JBL. You rarely have to worry about the battery running out anytime soon—after all, the tablet easily lasts a full day of use. And the bright screen usually makes it easy to use even outdoors.
A solid all-around device with entertainment features
The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 really offers a great overall package, especially thanks to its exceptionally good sound system and massive 10,200 mAh battery. It’s also priced in the mid-range: On amazon.com, the tablet currently costs around US$ 470.
The round stand on the back makes the Tab Plus Gen 2 very versatile: You can easily prop it up vertically or horizontally, or even hang it on the wall. The manufacturer also includes fairly fast storage, which can be further expanded via microSD.
How could this tablet be made even better?
Can Lenovo even make a potential successor any better? We’ve definitely noticed a few areas where improvements could be made: For one, at 1.71 pounds (775 grams), the tablet is quite heavy; perhaps improved battery technology or new speakers could make it more portable.
At over 7 inches (2 cm) thick, the dimensions aren’t exactly slim either: Sure, a sound system this good needs a certain amount of space to produce sound. But perhaps Lenovo can find a way to make the tablet more manageable.
Room for improvement in mobile connectivity and software
The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 doesn’t offer a 5G model and can’t be located via GPS. If a successor included these features, it would be great for use as a mobile multimedia system in RVs or cars.
Lenovo could also finally put an end to its reluctance to provide long update cycles: Other major manufacturers like Apple and Samsung have long offered security updates for many years, even for more affordable devices.
