CES 2019 | Lenovo shows off with 2-in-1 Smart Tab P10 and Smart Dock
The 2-in-1 Smart Tab P10 tablet comes with what Lenovo is calling a Smart Dock, which allows users to dock the tablet and utilize it in Show Mode. In Tablet Mode, the 10.1-inch P10 offers sound provided by four front speakers with Dolby Atmos. The device can be used in typical usage scenarios for a tablet, such as web-browsing, gaming, watching videos, and playing music.
The P10 offers hands-free use when the tablet is placed into the Smart Dock. This automatically triggers Show Mode, which includes Amazon Alexa for assistance with tasks around the home or for general leisure use. In a product tour video (see below), Lenovo shows how the P10 with Alexa can be used for weather forecasts, keeping an eye on the kids, helping with cooking recipes, creating grocery lists, or just turning off the lights. You can even just settle down and enjoy a movie or TV series on it.
The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 and operates on Android Oreo. Up to 4 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of memory will be available, depending on the SKU, and a battery with a 7000 mAh capacity is present. The FHD IPS LCD (1920x1200) shines at a brightness of 400 nits, and there are even front and rear-facing cameras as part of the package.
LTE connectivity is supported as are the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac network standards. The Smart Dock offers additional dual 3 W speakers and has a starting weight of 1.14 lbs/520 g (the tablet weighs 0.97 lbs/440 g). The Lenovo 2-in-1 Smart Tab P10 tablet and Smart Dock is expected to be available from the end of January and will cost €299 (Germany). Lenovo has also announced the Smart Tab M10, which offers a similar experience but with lower tablet hardware specifications and a cheaper price.
