Technology is advancing fast and what was new yesterday is today's old news. Still, products of yesterday are often a great choice, especially if they become cheaper in clearance sales. Even more interesting: Older products that lack a successor.
Such a case is the Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 2 AMD. Lenovo has announced the ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), but the new model is exclusively based on Intel Core Ultra - AMD is no option here.
This means that the Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 2 may not be the most recent model anymore, but in a way, it still is - at least if a AMD processor is preferred over Intel. In our comprehensive review, the Ryzen 7000 variant showed its strengths: A great, stable CPU performance is paried with a good iGPU and a quiet fan and a long battery life - which have the potential to be even better, if you buy the ThinkPad T16 Gen 2 AMD with the big battery. Our review device had the small 52.5 Wh battery. Potentially, the T16 G2 AMD can be a battery life champion, if a model with the 86 Wh battery is chosen.
The new Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 has a new design and upgradeable RAM, but the "old" T16 Gen 2 (available from Amazon) is still a great work laptop, which gets our recommendation.
