The compact office laptop by Lenovo convinces us with low emissions, long battery life numbers and a 16 inch screen win the work-friendly 16:10 ratio (1,920 x 1,200, IPS, low power). Part of the package are two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a WWAN option.

We already reviewed the Lenovo ThinkPad T16 G2 with Raptor Lake. Now, the Ryzen variant follows. Since the successor T16 G3 is not going to be available with AMD CPUs, the T16 G2 AMD is still an interesting choice in 2024.

At the end of the day, we can conclude that the Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 2 (Intel) is a capable business device. This is possible because of the good build quality and the snappy hardware. Our machine has the Core i5-1335U which is the default CPU option for the series. The chip can maintain very high clocks in short and medium loads which is great. In long loads, the frequencies remain high and the chip temperatures are sub-70°C. The cooling fan is always quiet – good job Lenovo! The upgradability isn’t something to write home about – soldered memory plus one SODIMM for DDR5 or DDR4 RAM and a single M.2 slot. On the other hand, the I/O is good with its two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Keep in mind that extras such as Smart card reader and Nano-SIM card slot are optional.

In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.

This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
