Lenovo has unveiled a load of new ThinkPad models for a wide range of applications. The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 2, ThinkPad P14s i Gen 2 and ThinkPad P15s Gen 2 are tailor-made for heavy use on the go. They feature workstation-grade GPUs that are required to run applications such as Solidworks, ANSYS, AutoCAD, PTC Creo and more. You get to pick between Intel and AMD processors, which are bundled with Nvidia and Radeon GPUs, respectively. The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s i (the 'i' here probably stands for Intel) Gen 2 and ThinkPad P15s Gen 2 will be available for purchase starting March 2021 starting at US$1,389. Similarly, the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 2 will cost US$1,169 and hit shelves in May 2021.
The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s i Gen 2 and ThinkPad P15s Gen 2 come with 11th-generation Intel Tiger Lake Core i7 vPro CPUs. Lenovo will tell us the exact processor models later. On the GPU side of things, we get an Nvidia T500 (formerly known as the Quadro T500) with 4GB of VRAM. The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s comes with AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors and a Radeon GPU. All three notebooks can be configured with up to 2TB of solid-state storage via an M.2 NVMe SSD. RAM capacity maxes out at 48GB. It is also worth noting that one RAM module is soldered down, while the other is user-replaceable.
The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s i Gen 2 and ThinkPad P14s Gen 2 come with a 14-inch IPS LCD screen. Users can choose between 4K UHD and FHD screen resolutions. The former has a peak brightness of 500 nits and comes with X-Rite Factory Color Calibration (FCC) out of the box, while the latter has three sub-variants with 500 nits (72% NTSC), 400 nits (72% NTSC) and 300 nits touch-enabled version. As its name somewhat suggests, the ThinkPad P15s Gen 2 comes with a 15.4-inch screen; also configurable with 4K UHD and FHD screens. The former has a peak brightness of 600 nits and X-Rite Factory Color Calibration (FCC), HDR400 and Dolby Vision HDR certifications. Lastly, users can also add a Privacy Guard on the ThinkPad P15s to keep the contents of their screens away from prying eyes.
Input options on the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 2, ThinkPad P14s i Gen 2 and ThinkPad P15s Gen 2 include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two Thunderbolt 4.0 port, one HDMI 2.0 port, a smart card reader, an RJ45 ethernet jack, a micro SD card reader and a 3.5mm headphone/mic combo jack. The ThinkPad P14s and P14si come with an additional Side Docking Connector. All three notebooks draw power from a 50Wh battery that can be charged at 65W via the included USB Type-C power adaptor. The included 720p webcam comes with a privacy shutter found in several other Lenovo-branded laptops. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E (on the ThinkPad P14s i and P15s), Wi-Fi 6 on the ThinkPad P14s, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. LTE connectivity is possible too, via an integrated eSIM.
