Lenovo Yoga 5G convertible laptop refreshed for 2021 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 compute platform
Lenovo has posted a teaser image on one of the company's Weibo accounts to announce the 2021 Yoga 5G convertible that will feature the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G compute platform from Qualcomm. The promo picture (see below) only highlights the chipset rather than the laptop itself. However, the marketing material also reveals that the thin and light Lenovo Yoga 5G will only weigh 1.35 kg (2.98 lbs) and will be fitted with a 60 Wh battery.
By utilizing the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G platform, the refreshed Lenovo Yoga 5G will undoubtedly be attractive to laptop shoppers looking for a lightweight but powerful mobile companion that can take advantage of speedy 5G connections. It seems the first buyers of the 2021 Yoga in China will get to test out its communication capabilities immediately, as a free 5G package will also be included with a purchase.
The 2021 Lenovo Yoga 5G, which can utilize passive cooling (fanless) thanks to its design and components, will be the successor to last year’s Lenovo Yoga 5G that was powered by the first-generation Snapdragon 8cx platform. Qualcomm states that the Gen 2 variant of the platform can offer improved battery life over laptops using rival SoCs, and it features enhanced security features. The newer chipset also supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6.
