New lifelike Xperia 1 III renders show what to expect from Sony's upcoming flagship smartphone
Sony improved in many areas from the Xperia 1 with the Xperia 1 II, not least with better cameras, a larger battery, and wireless charging support. The Xperia 1 II retained the 4K display of its predecessor though, which despite being colour accurate and bright, peaked at 60 Hz. Thankfully, this year's model is expected to feature a 120 Hz panel, mirroring the refresh rate of the Xperia 5 II.
While Sony is yet to announce the Xperia 1 III, OnLeaks published CAD renders of the device last month. Now, LetsGoDigital and Concept Creator have combined to create lifelike models of the Xperia 1 III, offering arguably the best look at the device so far. Concept Creator has also published a video of an 'Xperia 1 III introduction' video, which could be mistaken for an official marketing video, in our opinion.
Sony is expected to upgrade the Xperia 1 in more areas than just a higher refresh rate, though. Apparently, the company will include UFS 3.1 flash storage in the Xperia 1 III, an upgrade that should give the device faster read and write speeds than its predecessor. Moreover, Sony will supposedly equip the next Xperia 1 with a 50 MP primary camera, up from 12 MP in the Xperia 1 II. Additionally, a periscope camera should provide superior images at high zoom levels than the current model's 70 mm 12 MP camera. According to OnLeaks, Sony will announce the Xperia 1 III within a few weeks.
