For the most part, Sony has stuck to its Android 11 roadmap. It even managed to surprise users by rolling out the update for Sony Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 users a full month ahead of schedule. Now, it is the Sony Xperia 10 II's turn to get a taste of Android 11, as the update has started rolling out to some variants of the smartphone. Currently, the update is only available in South East Asia. We can expect a global rollout to commence soon.
An XDA Developers (via Xperiablog) user claims to have received the Android 11 update on their Sony Xperia 10 II, bearing firmware version 59.1.A.0.485. It is approximately 1GB in size and comes with all standard Android 11 features, such as scoped storage, better privacy controls and permission management, conversation bubbles and more. It is also bundled with the December 2020 Android security patch.
The Android 11 update for the Sony Xperia 10 II also comes with Sony's new Battery Care feature that allows users to specify a limit to which a battery can be charged. For example, the phone will automatically stop charging once the battery hits 90%. This feature is aimed at increasing battery longevity.
