Sony Xperia 5 II: The software does it
Since hardly anything has changed on the outside, the Sony Xperia 5 II also looks somewhat exotic with its 21:9 form factor. But this also preserves the feeling of it being manageable, which is provided by the narrower width. Other 6.1-inch smartphones can't keep up in this respect.
As in the Sony Xperia 1 IIa Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and 8 GB of RAM ensure a smooth system operation. A Qualcomm Adreno 650 is used to display image content, and the internal UFS 3.0 storage has a capacity of 128 GB. According to the manufacturer, the somewhat slow memory card reader also allows the use of microSD cards from up to 1 TB in size.
If the camera equipment is measured purely by the number of megapixels, it initially appears to be identical to the predecessor model. However, Sony has installed other sensors that don't improve the image quality significantly, at least not with the standard camera app. The actual gain in quality is provided by the Photo Pro application, which is based on Sony's Alpha cameras. Here, not only are menus that are inspired by SLR cameras available, but the settings options are also at the same level.
But even without manual adjustments, the Photo Pro app already delivers significantly better pictures and should, therefore, be the preferred choice for users. It's also triggered much faster and saves photos immediately. The standard app always requires a short waiting time for this. The Sony Xperia 5 II is worth a closer look for users who like to take pictures with their smartphones. Our review of the Sony Xperia 5 II reveals what else the smartphone is capable of.
