The Lenovo Legion Go with an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage is now enjoying a cool $70 off the $699.99 retail price. While difficult to recommend against the competition at full retail, Lenovo’s handheld offers a lot of goodies that are hard to resist at the discounted price. These include a sharp display, detachable controllers, and good gaming performance.

The Lenovo Legion Go with its 8.8-inch QHD+ display and a Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip is meant to compete against the likes of the ASUS ROG Ally, Valve Steam Deck, and offerings from Ayaneo. However, as we noted in our Legion Go review, the many small shortcomings of Lenovo’s effort keep it from truly standing above the competition.

Thankfully, you can now get the Lenovo Legion Go for only $629.99 on Amazon, a record-low price for the device.

At the reduced rate, the Lenovo Legion Go is in a much better spot against its rivals, thanks in particular to the display and the novel FPS mode.

Starting with the display, the Lenovo Legion Go features an 8.8-inch 1600p panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate. The panel delivered 413 nits of average brightness, 979:1 contrast ratio, and 99.56% sRGB coverage in our testing. Additionally, the screen also showed respectable AdobeRGB and DCI-P3 coverage with numbers coming in at 90% and 92% respectively.

Driving the display is a Radeon 780M iGPU that played all the benchmarked games at playable frame rates. For instance, the Legion Go ran Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty at 52 FPS at FHD/low settings. We also saw older titles like Shadow of the Tomb Raider run at more than 40 FPS at FHD/medium.

Combined with FPS mode which allows you to use the detachable joysticks like a keyboard and mouse, the Legion Go becomes a solid portable gaming machine, especially for first-person shooters and older titles.
