Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16ACH with Ryzen 5000: Mid-range laptop almost reaches high-end level
High-end laptops are often exciting, innovative, and high-quality. However, not many users are willing to spend several thousand Euros for a laptop. This makes upper mid-range laptops like the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16ACH interesting. It makes the Ryzen 5000 series and a great high-resolution 16:10 LCD with 120 Hz available to the masses.

OLED displays, CNC-machined aluminum cases, quad-speaker systems, 4K resolution, high-end GPUs - premium laptops can offer any number of features that cheaper laptops can't. However, premium laptops all have one inherent disadvantage: They are expensive - sometimes so expensive that many potential buyers might be discouraged.
This makes upper mid-range devices that offer individual functions and features of higher tiers for less money all the more interesting. In this way, buyers might not get quality in all respects, but they do in certain areas.
An example: The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16ACH. Its price ranges from 800 Euros (~$947) for the entry-level model to around 1,550 Euros (~$1,835) for the top-of-the-line configuration. This is a laptop for multimedia applications, and all variants of the IdeaPad 5 Pro 16ACH share two features: Ryzen 5000H CPUs as well as a large 16-inch display in the 16:10 format.
As we saw in our detailed review: AMD processors make sure that the CPU performance is always top-notch. And the matte display, which has a resolution of 2560 x1600 in all models and also offers a high refresh rate of 120 Hz in our test device, looks like it could easily be found in a genuine premium laptop.
Granted, there are compromises, but they are probably hard to avoid at a starting price of 800 Euros (~$947). One regrettable example are the internal speakers, which are unfortunately poor in this case.
I was an ardent reader of Notebookcheck’s laptop reviews even back in school. After writing reviews as a hobby, I then joined Notebookcheck in 2016 and have worked on device reviews and news articles ever since then. My personal interest lies more with laptops than smartphones, with business laptops being the most interesting category for me. Technology should make our lives and work easier and good laptops are an essential tool for that to happen. This is why laptop reviews are not just my work but are also my passion.

I've been fascinated with technology ever since I got my very first Android smartphone, which was quite a while ago. The power packed into such a small footprint still amazes me. Learning to program made my understanding of technology deeper, and at the same time, it expanded my interest to the area of desktop computers and laptops. All this led me to enjoy reading and watching reviews of new devices, and that's how I stumbled upon Notebookcheck. I immediately found their reviews to be very comprehensive, and luckily, I've even had the chance of translating them since 2019. When it comes to the huge field of technology, I'm currently also interested in specializing in Java programming.
