Office Depot is currently selling the 15.6-inch Lenovo IdeaPad 5 82LN0001US for $210 USD off the original launch price. The deal comes three months after the lower-end IdeaPad 3 went on sale for the exact same final price.
This particular IdeaPad 5 deal is notable for its brighter display and higher performance relative to other laptops in the same price range. Its 300-nit IPS panel is about 50 percent brighter than most budget laptops while the 6-core Ryzen 5 5500U will run laps around any Intel Atom, Celeron, or Core i3 processor. The SKU even comes with a backlit keyboard which was missing on the aforementioned IdeaPad 3 sale.
The major drawback to the deal is its measly 8 GB of RAM which is a likely deal breaker for most users. Even worse, RAM is not expandable at all meaning you would be stuck with 8 GB for the life of the system. Web browsing, word processing, and video streaming tasks won't suffer all that much from the limited memory, but heavy multitasking and more demanding applications will not run as smoothly.
