The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15ALC05 excels in our review with long battery life and solid performance, but it also has some surprising disadvantages compared to its 14-inch counterpart.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15ALC05 in the 82LN0035GE configuration is a 15.6-inch multimedia laptop in the price range under 1,000 Euros (~$1,177). In return, the device offers an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U hexa-core CPU with AMD Radeon RX Vega 7 integrated graphics, 16 GB of DDR4 SDRAM in dual-channel mode, and 512 GB of SSD storage.

Considering the price and the competition, this configuration was very compelling in our review. Particularly in the multi-core benchmarks, the CPU demonstrates its performance capacity and leaves the competitors with the Intel Core i5-1135G7 clearly behind. The performance provided is definitely sufficient for everyday and common tasks like office applications, streaming, and so on. The on-board graphics unit is sufficient for playing games at lower and at times medium graphics settings.

We liked the battery's endurance in the test. Thanks to its lower consumption and larger capacity, it leaves the competition behind and lasts for almost 14 hours in our Wi-Fi test. In addition, the hardware is housed in a very elegant aluminum case.

However, there were also a few disappointments. If you don't use the appropriate accessories, the single USB-C port is taken up by the power adapter. The display is sufficiently bright and matte, which makes it suitable for outdoor use. However, several metrics, such as contrast and color reproduction, lag behind the competition, and in some cases significantly so. It's also surprising that the speeds of the SSD, the Wi-Fi 6 module, and the card reader are considerably slower than in the IdeaPad 5 14ALC05, the 14-inch counterpart that is identically configured in many aspects.

Overall, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15ALC05 is a good all-rounder in the end with a few minor weaknesses, and it was largely able to win us over in our review thanks to its long battery life.
