System76 has refreshed the Lemur Pro, its 14.1-inch laptop that can be configured with Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS or Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Perhaps expectedly, System76 has moved the Lemur Pro onto Intel Raptor Lake-U processors, having offered the Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U since last July. In their place are the Core i5-1335U and Core i7-1355U, which contain higher CPU and GPU clock speeds than their predecessors.
Performance differences between last year's Lemur Pro and this year's model will be marginal though, considering that the Core i5-1335U and Core i7-1355U feature the same CPU core arrangements and GPUs as their 12th Generation predecessors. For example, the Core i7-1355U outperforms the Core i7-1255U by approximately 5% in our benchmarks. System76 complements the 13th Generation processors with DDR5-4800 RAM and numerous storage options courtesy of twin M.2 slots. Please note that while the primary M.2 slot supports PCIe Gen 4 drives, the second peaks at PCIe Gen 3 speeds.
Additionally, the new Lemur Pro has a 1080p display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a matte finish. The laptop continues to feature a 73 Wh battery too, which contributes to its 1.15 kg base weight. Moreover, the new Lemur Pro contains the same ports as its predecessor, which include HDMI, Thunderbolt 4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, among other I/O. The new Lemur Pro starts at US$1,149, with the Core i7-1335U priced at US$1,364 and upwards. Please see System76's website for more details.
