LG's bonkers 1000Hz UltraGear monitor is now available for $1000

LG has opened US orders for the UltraGear 25G590B, its 24.5-inch esports monitor and the first FHD gaming display with a native 1000Hz refresh rate. The monitor is priced at $999.99 and is listed on LG's US site as an exclusive preorder, with free expedited shipping set to begin on September 1.

LG first unveiled the 25G590B back in May, positioning it against dual-mode rivals like the Philips Evnia 27M2N5500XD and the Samsung Odyssey G6 (G60H), both of which need to drop to 720p to hit 1000Hz. The 25G590B instead runs its full 1000Hz refresh rate natively at 1920x1080, and LG's newly published listing shows it can be overclocked further, to 1100Hz.

Reaching the monitor's maximum refresh rate is not automatic. LG specifies that it requires a DisplayPort 2.1 connection, Windows 11, and a recent GPU such as an Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series card or an AMD Radeon RX 9070, 9060 or 7900-series card or newer. The monitor's DisplayPort 2.1 input supports UHBR20 bandwidth, which allows it to push full 1080p signal at 1000Hz rather than fall back to a lower-resolution mode. It also includes two HDMI 2.1 ports and USB-C connectivity.

On the panel side, the 25G590B uses an IPS display with an ATW polarizer and a low-reflection film, rated for 99 percent DCI-P3 color coverage and DisplayHDR 400 certification. Grey-to-grey response time is listed at 1ms, and the monitor supports both AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync. However, both are disabled when LG's Motion Blur Reduction Pro strobing feature is switched on. LG says Motion Blur Reduction Pro is built to make fast-moving objects sharper and easier to track during gameplay.

The monitor also sports LG's on-device AI features, including AI Scene Optimization, which adjusts picture settings based on the genre being played, and AI Sound, which separates voices and in-game effects to make footsteps and other audio cues easier to pick out. Ergonomics include height, tilt and swivel adjustment with calibration markings, alongside a compact stand designed to save desk space.

LG is also running a preorder incentive alongside the launch, offering 5 percent back in MyLG Rewards points and a $1 two-year LG Premium Care extended coverage plan through August 31. LG has said the 25G590B will launch in select markets in the second half of 2026, with availability expanding to more regions later in the year.
