After many years of anticipation, a decision has finally been made to bring this game back to life as a remake, and it's likely going to please millions of fans around the world.
The revelation was made during the “Press Start” showcase organized by Konami. The Japanese company simply unveiled an image showing the Silent Hill logo slowly emerging from the fog below the names of Konami Studios and Bloober Team.
This was followed by another mention, signifying that the game is currently being developed by these two companies. Obviously, with this information, it's possible to imagine any game from this illustrious saga. And yet, when the iconic chords of the music composed by Akira Yamaoka rang out, there could be no doubt that this was a remake of the first Silent Hill.
However, little further information is available on this subject. But if we refer to the work done for the Silent Hill 2 remake, we can expect the same recipe. In other words, the graphics could be brought up to date, notably with the help of Unreal Engine 5, with more beautiful and impressive lighting effects.
As for the gameplay of this game released in 1999, it could be modified with a few improvements and updates concerning movements or actions. Finally, the original soundtrack composed by Akira Yamaoka will undoubtedly be included in this remake.
As a reminder, Silent Hill follows Harry Mason, a 32-year-old writer who is searching for his adopted daughter Cheryl, who has mysteriously disappeared in the English tourist resort of the same name. During the search, he stumbles upon a sect practicing a ritual designed to bring a deity back to life, and discovers his daughter's true identity.
The remake of this game could enable many gamers who didn't have the desire or opportunity to discover it with the graphics of the time to get their hands on it. Hopefully, Konami and Bloober Team will retain the essence of the original.
