King’s Bounty II confirmed to arrive next year with open-world exploration and RPG mechanics
With almost three decades of history behind it, King's Bounty is considered the forerunner of the more popular Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. In 2014, King's Bounty: Dark Side arrived and now its successor — simply known as King's Bounty II — is ready to refresh the series with a new approach that includes open-world exploration and RPG mechanics, as well as a non-linear narrative.
King's Bounty II comes with quite a few highlights, such as an interactive and cinematic, non-linear story, volumetric battlefields, a new character development system, unique squads, various new tactical features such as Line of Sight, and more. The story takes place in Antara, where "a great danger has arisen" and the player must face the "blight-distorted creatures" that are now roaming the countryside.
Those interested can place their pre-orders already on the official website, where three editions are available: Knight's (49.99 EUR), Lord's (58.99 EUR), and King's (84.99 EUR). The most expensive of the three also includes an "Exclusive Preview build" and multiple in-game items. Sadly, there is no accurate release date for this early build or the game itself, which should arrive next year on Windows (via Steam), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
