TerraMow has announced a new all-wheel-drive robot mower called the X AWD, featuring several innovations. Among other things, it eliminates the need for turning maneuvers and includes an interface for expansions.

TerraMow has previously launched the S-series and V-series robot mowers for smaller gardens, both of which performed well in testing. Now, the manufacturer is thinking two sizes larger and has announced the upcoming launch of the TerraMow X AWD.

This model is set to begin crowdfunding on Kickstarter soon, though an exact date has not yet been communicated. The manufacturer is advertising a launch price of 2,699 USD instead of the 3,599 USD MSRP—a discount of up to 25 percent. Information regarding pricing for Europe is not yet available. The TerraMow X AWD website already reveals numerous details about the technical specifications, which are quite compelling.

According to the manufacturer, this new XXL robot mower, designed for areas up to 11,000 square meters, no longer requires the classic turning maneuver at the end of a row as common models do. Instead, the TerraMow X AWD can mow in both forward and reverse. It simply engages reverse gear once a row is finished. By eliminating the 180-degree turn in place, this approach is expected to be gentler on the lawn.

In addition to a suspended AWD chassis based on automotive technology—enabling the all-wheel-drive mower to master inclines of up to 90% or 42°—the manufacturer highlights a mowing system approximately 50 cm wide with 900 W of power, consisting of three cutting discs with five blades each.

Mapping is intended to function automatically via AI, utilizing the TerraVision 2.0 system with six cameras and a 28-core CPU providing 8 TOPS of AI performance. The expandable ecosystem also sounds promising.

According to the manufacturer, two 42V ports will provide the option to connect officially provided as well as DIY-developed modules to the TerraMow X AWD—similar to the Navimow X3. This allows for the integration of tools such as side trimmers for edge mowing, additional batteries, and other potential accessories.
